Description
Process hazard analysis (PHA) studies are performed by companies to manage process risks. Increasingly, companies are performing layers of protection analysis (LOPA) studies to improve their risk management. Typically, LOPA is performed on hazard scenarios obtained from PHA studies.
However, common PHA practices for performing studies often result in hazard scenarios with insufficient information to perform LOPA. This necessitates updating the PHA study and interferes with the performance of LOPA making it inefficient. LOPA will take longer to perform and may be inaccurate.
This technical briefing provides guidelines for capturing information in PHA studies for hazard scenarios so that these problems can be avoided and LOPA can be performed smoothly and without difficulty. Attendees receive an electronic copy of the technical briefing materials.
What you will learn:
- PHA details needed for LOPA
- Problems to avoid
- Guidelines for recording studies
Who Should Attend
Facilitators and team members for PHA and LOPA studies.
Prerequisite
Knowledge of PHA and LOPA.
